Why come to Herault - Occitanie

Why come to Herault ? That's a good question... For me, the Hérault department is like a nugget, a jewel.. If you go away from the coast, there are few people with an exceptional heritage, breathtaking landscapes, a history and people not as bad as they say
1- To enjoy Montpellier, the sea and the beaches
And yes... Since the pandemic, mentalities are changing but for the moment, visitors are still attracted by our beaches, our climate or to visit the dynamic city of Montpellier.
Let yourself be carried away by the festive side of Montpellier, sunbathe by the sea but don't limit yourself to the nice and lively beaches of La Grande Motte, Palavas or Carnon.
During your stay in Herault, be curious, there are also beautiful things to see on the side of the cathedral of Maguelone, on the cliffs of Agde or on the side of the short point in Sète for example.

2- To admire the beauty of its landscapes
As far as landscapes are concerned, it is undeniable that there are fantastic landscapes and incredible places all over France and the world.
But the major asset of tourism in Herault is its incredible diversity of landscapes
3- To visit the beautiful villages of Herault
The list is long but as an example, we can mention Saint Guilhem le désert, Minerve, Moureze for the old stone and nature side. Pézenas for the cultural side without forgetting villages like Les Matelles or Saint Martin de Londres full of charm too.

4- To practice unusual activities
In Hérault, when it comes to tourist activities, you can do almost anything, the city, the sea, the mountains, everything is possible or almost.
Among the unique and unusual activities I give you 3 ideas:
-Spend a night on the cliffs of the Hortus
-Try your hand at electric longboarding
-Do Yoga at the Clamouse cave

5- To practice nature activities
As soon as you leave Montpellier, nature is everywhere. A paradise for the practice of natural sports.
- Water sports by the sea, windsurfing and kite surfing
- In the river, canyoning and canoeing
- On the heights, climbing, or via ferrata
- Underground, caving
6- To be alone in the world
If you are looking for peace and quiet and wide open spaces, simply move away from the big cities and the coastline, another world opens up to you.
With the ruffe around Salagou, the great expanses of Larzac or with the wild treasures of the Haut Languedoc, you will find your happiness.

7- To taste local specialties
Not necessarily known for its culinary specialties, the Herault region still has some good products to taste.
For the unavoidable, Sète and the Thau lagoon will delight the seafood addicts and other fresh fish dishes. The tielle (octopus pie) is the great specialty.
Pézenas also enjoys a good reputation thanks to its famous small pâtés and its bombons berlingots
