SEA SIDE, the most beautiful beaches - HERAULT

Two little wild corners are to be discovered around Montpellier. Indeed the classic beaches of La Grande Motte de Carnon or Palavas are very popular with tourists but are far from being the most beautiful.

ESPIGUETTE BEACH - Grau du Roi - Port Camargue

Situated at the beginning of the Camargue, this wild beach protected by its dunes is a little piece of paradise that stretches for miles.

This Mediterranean desert is classified to the great site of France. You won't be bothered by your neighbour's towel. The lovers of the sports of slips find their happiness. This is THE spot for kiteboarders!

You can also rent pedal boats, canoes to entertain your day. And of course if you want to relax you can rent deckchairs at the beach restaurant. From the parking lot you have to walk about 800m to reach the sea.

PILOU BEACH - Villeneuve les Maguelone

Shellfish and Pebbles ! Between sea and pond the Pilou beach is a wild seaside resort 20 min from Montpellier. Dunes and nature make its harmony. Open your eyes and see the Maguelone Cathedral in the distance. Walk along the beach with your feet in the water and count 30min of walk to reach it. It is a sandy and pebble beach for naturist lovers. Very popular with the inhabitants of Montpellier you can't miss the restaurant "Carré Mer" des Frères Pourcel at the beginning of the beach.

LARGE CONQUE BEACH - Cap d'Agde

Black sand beach in the hollow of a cliff. The rocky landscape and the transparent water will give you a change of scenery for a day. A nice little corner for families and sportsmen. Quite popular in the summer but it's worth a visit. A small staircase dug in the rock allows you to reach the beach.

DISCOVER ARESQUIERS BEACH - Frontignan

THE most beautiful beach of the Littoral. Natural and wild it offers a soothing landscape. The environment and the setting are very pleasant. Isolated from the crowded beaches in summer, it is a very quiet area. Far from Monoï and towels, this little Mediterranean heart is waiting for you !

LAZARET BEACH - Sete

- Have you ever been to Sete? Queen city for its local gastronomy. Tielles, fresh fish macaronade. Famous for its oysters from l'étang de Thau, it is necessary to do idleness but I advise you to visit this charming fisherman town.
Let's come back to our theme of the day. The Lazaret beach is a very well located beach between the port and the city center. It's a large sandy beach perfect for sunbathing and sports. For a more bucolic landscape the Corniche beach is ideal.

HERIC GORGES- Caroux

A pleasure for your eyes! The gorges d'Héric are one of the most beautiful gorges of France carved in the rock. I haven't been there yet but I've had some feedback and apparently it's worth the detour. If you are eager to hike, you can go up to the top of the gorges while taking advantage of the basins to bathe.

SCREW CASCADE - Gorge de l'Hérault

A dream spot! To take your picture and publish it on the network it's THE place. I went there one afternoon with friends, it's a very nice place in full nature. You can land on the rocks with a splendid view of the waterfalls. I advise you to go there in the morning in high season. It's a quite touristic place and it can get crowded very quickly.

DEVIL'S BRIDGE - SALAGOU LAKE - Saint Guilhem le Desert

If you are not from the region you must have already heard about Saint Guilhem le désert. The Devil's Bridge is 5 minutes away. A very popular river spot in the area. A small beach down below is ideal for a family landing. Sometimes there is no more room. I advise you to walk a little further to find a rock or a quieter place. If you love rock jumping you should go there! A magical place between mountain and rocks!
Accessible by the parking of the Pont du Diable . Park in the paid parking lot because it's very difficult to find another place.

NAVACELLES WATERFALLS - Navacelles

In the heart of the village of Navacelles, go and discover its waterfalls . I had the opportunity to walk at the cirque de Navacelles , it is for me the most beautiful panorama of the region. Splendid view on the circus. I have never been to swim at the waterfalls but they are famous for their clear water and their idyllic environment.

LE PONT DE SAINT-ETIENNE-D’ISSENSAC

There are bridges in the area! The bridge of Saint Etienne d'issensac is a stage on the way to Santiago de Compostela. Listed as a historical monument, it is a beautiful place to swim there. Ideal for families, there is plenty of room. It is necessary to privilege the morning because there is a strong affluence in the afternoon.

I've offered you the most beautiful bathing spots in Herault for my part. The richness of our hinterland and our coastline offers a wide choice of swimming spots. We agree we don't have the most beautiful French coast. But some places are superb! So don't wait any longer, take your car to refresh yourself !!!

CITIZENS SIDE - The most beautiful lakes in the Herault

CRES LAKE- CÉCÈLES LAKE - Crès - Pic Saint-Loup

After work, swimming after work, the Crès lake is 15 min from downtown Montpellier. A place of relaxation and leisure, ideal for spending a day with the family. I like to go there at the end of the day during the week, it tends to be crowded on weekends. Relaxation and fun!
And you know what at only 30 min from Montpellier on the side of the Pic Saint Loup : discover the Lake of Cécèles. Surrounded by mountains you are in the middle of nature. Come and spend a relaxing moment on the edge of the Cécèles lake. Between the mountains the view is breathtaking !

LEZ SOURCES - Montferrier-sur-Lez

Le Lez crosses the city of Montpellier. The sources of the Lez are located at Saint Clément de rivière. Embark your Pic Nique and spend a day by the river. At the sources of the Lez there are usually people on weekends, walk along the Lez and find a quiet corner where there is room for everyone.
