When I was told about the electric longboard, I admit I was a bit skeptical at first.
I had a lot of questions. One more motor sport? Is it going to be boring? Too difficult, I might get hurt?
Lots of questions but few answers.

In the end, my curiosity got the better of me. So I decided to accept Ludo's invitation and I went to Pic Saint Loup, a few steps from Montpellier.
A beautiful afternoon in the middle of the garrigue to test the famous planche !

Are electric longboards easy to control ?

Before starting the electric longboard session you must first equip yourself with a helmet and protections and then read the safety rules.

Once you are ready, head to the parking lot for training. Simple and quick explanations on the handling of the machine allow to understand that several speeds are available and that it is necessary to start slowly. For information, the blocking speed is set on the board.

Even if I'm impatient to try, the instructor asks me to take the remote control and move the longboard forward and backward without getting on it.
To put it simply, I'd say it looks like the controllers on the kids' car circuits or the Wii if you prefer. Good for you! Not obvious on the first try, the controller is sensitive but it's still simple to understand.

Once reassured about the handling of the remote control, it's time to climb on the board. It's time for the first steps.
The beginnings are not obvious, you have to find the right position, relax but to my great surprise, you quickly gain confidence and above all, you quickly take pleasure.
Very quickly, we decide to shift to the second gear and little by little we try to make turns and braking.

Longboarding, an all-terrain outdoor activity

We are ready, we are waiting for one thing: the GO of the monitor to discover the course.
And there, very quickly, my first impressions are confirmed, I'm going to have a good time. Between small country roads and dirt tracks, I discover or rediscover fabulous landscapes: the Hortus, the pic Saint Loup, the sources of the Lez.

I am at the same time a little tense because I increase my speed little by little but at the same time I feel a feeling of well being. And moreover, I love the noise or rather the absence of noise.
As the ride goes on I relax and I start to integrate the notion of carving and I take more and more pleasure to walk the roads in off-road mode. Top!
It's not a few scares on a small descent that started my enthusiasm, on the contrary.

Because in addition to the fun activity, the transportation option for those who don't have a car is a big plus. Departures by minibus are possible on request and this is from Montpellier or surroundings.
